Mount bin/cue disk images on a Mac with Daemon Tools Lite

That’s right. Deamon Tools released a beta version of their optical disk emulation software for Mac. The simplicity of the popular Windows PC app comes to Mac OS X, and solves a long standing annoyance. Mounting BIN image files on a Mac.

Disk images are used to create “files” out of CDs/DVDs, for archiving, or distributing over the Internet. Macs have long supported ISO images, and DMG images out of the box, but mounting BIN images had been more tricky. Now with Daemon Tools Lite, we have an simple, lightweight app for nearly every disk image format. The current version (as of July 2012) is in beta, and free to download and use. It’s very stable, and appears to be working without crashing. You can expect that the final release version will be sold for a small fee.
